Michelle Obama’s Goddess Box Braids Hairstyle Has a Curly Twist

Michelle Obama’s goddess box braids are making waves again, and we can’t get enough of her textured braids with a curly twist. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Obama sporting these fashionable goddess box braids, and it certainly won’t be the last.

In November 2022, Michelle Obama revealed that she avoided wearing textured braids during her husband’s presidency due to racism. However, since leaving the White House, the former First Lady has embraced goddess box braids and other braided hairstyles. Her latest look features goddess box braids styled into a high ponytail, perfectly showcasing her love for textured braids.

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Michelle Obama discussed her book, ‘The Light We Carry’, wearing a sleek black two-piece set with silver jewelry. Her goddess box braids were on the smaller side, and the textured braids were finessed into a high ponytail with a few plaits wrapped around the base. The curly ends of the goddess box braids cascaded towards her mid-back, and her lightly swooped baby hairs added the finishing touch to this protective style.

Though her goddess box braids were undoubtedly the focus, her bright tangerine nail tips and almond-shaped nails also caught our attention. The vibrant color provided a stunning contrast to her otherwise monochromatic ensemble.

Goddess box braids and textured braids have recently gained immense popularity, with celebrities like Marsai Martin, Gabrielle Union, and Janelle Monae embracing the style. As Michelle Obama has worn them several times, it’s clear that goddess box braids have become one of her favorite looks. We’re almost 100 percent positive this won’t be the last we see of this iconic style on her—and honestly, we’re here for it.
