Beyoncé’s French Vogue Cover Has Us Asking: Where’s the Hair?

Alright, let’s talk about the major beauty moment that everyone’s been buzzing about – Beyoncé’s new Vogue France cover! This queen has done it again and proven that even when her hair is hidden and the photo is in black and white, she still manages to steal the show with her stunning beauty.

In celebration of her album Renaissance, Beyoncé teamed up with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing to turn her music into couture fashion. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint! The cover alone is a work of art, shot by the talented photographer Louie Banks. Although we can’t see the colors of her makeup, we can tell that Rokael and Holly Silius did a fantastic job with a glam eye, matte lips, and foundation that lets her freckles peek through.

And let’s not forget about the nails! Yoko Sakakura gave Beyoncé some gorgeous long, almond-shaped nails with a chrome finish that perfectly complements the rhinestones on her dress. But what about her hair, you ask? Well, two hairstylists – Neal Farinah and Jawara Wauchope – are credited, even though we can’t see it under her Marni Senofonte-styled hood and hat. The mystery only adds to the overall appeal of this beautiful look, and I can’t wait to see what hair magic they’ve created.

Beyoncé herself expressed her gratitude to Olivier Rousteing and Balmain for allowing her to take artistic risks and freely express herself. And the Vogue France team also deserves a shoutout for trusting in their vision and sharing it with the world.

So, even though we may not be able to afford couture or live in black and white, there’s no denying that this cover will leave a mark on beauty trends for the rest of the year and beyond. Who knows, maybe we’ll all start wearing hoods and hats to hide our hair and create an air of mystery. Beyoncé, you trendsetter, you!

Beyoncé all-stadium Renaissance World Tour 2023

Renaissance (aka Act I: Renaissance) is Bey’s first solo studio album since Lemonade in 2016, and the first of a trilogy project. She worked with a bunch of talented producers like Skrillex, Hit-Boy, and BloodPop, to name a few, to create a seamless DJ mix of post-1970s Black dance music styles like disco and house. And let’s not forget the guest vocalists, including Tems and the one-and-only Grace Jones.

Now, let’s talk about what inspired Bey to make this album. She wanted to create a club-era vibe that celebrates the Black and queer pioneers of dance music while also providing an escape for those who have felt isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Talk about a lofty goal, amirite?

But, Queen Bey didn’t stop there. She also wanted to explore themes of escapism, hedonism, self-assurance, and self-expression. And boy, did she deliver. Renaissance was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and reaching the top spot in numerous other countries. The lead single “Break My Soul” was a hit, and “Cuff It” also peaked in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100.

And just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, Beyoncé announced the all-stadium Renaissance World Tour, kicking off in May 2023. Who’s ready to party with Queen Bey?

But let’s not forget the most important part: Renaissance was universally acclaimed by music critics for its eclectic yet cohesive sound, joyous mood, and of course, Beyoncé’s powerhouse vocals. It was even named the best album of the year by numerous publications and received a whopping nine nominations at the Grammy Awards. Although it didn’t win Album of the Year, it still made history with Bey becoming the most Grammy-awarded person ever. Take that, haters! Post was originally written by Marci Robin
